By installing or using Talk to the Past (the "App"), you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

1. The service

Talk to the Past provides a chat interface to a language model trained on text published before 1931. The model generates fictional responses written in the voice of a 1930s correspondent. Output is generated by software and is not intended as factual, professional, medical, legal, or financial advice.

2. Subscriptions

Free use is limited to ten dispatches per day, resetting at local midnight. A Pro subscription removes the limit and is sold through the App Store at the price displayed in your local currency at the moment of purchase.

The Pro subscription is auto-renewing. Payment will be charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase, and your subscription will renew automatically for the same period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage and cancel your subscription at any time in your Apple ID account settings.

4. Intellectual property

The App, the visual design, the wordmark "Talk to the Past", and the gentleman-correspondent character are property of the App's authors. The underlying language model (talkie-1930-13b-it) is licensed under Apache 2.0 by its respective authors and is used in accordance with that licence.

Conversations you create within the App are yours. You may use them however you like.

5. Disclaimers

The App is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. The language model may produce inaccurate, biased, or otherwise objectionable output. Treat all output as fiction. We make no warranty as to availability, suitability for any particular purpose, or accuracy of generated content.

6. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the App's authors shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of your use of the App.

7. Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. The effective date above will reflect the most recent version. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance.

8. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws applicable to the App's authors' jurisdiction. Any disputes shall be resolved in that jurisdiction's courts unless otherwise required by your local consumer protection law.
